You'll gain essential tools for nervous system regulation, discover trauma-informed breathwork practices, learn to identify dysfunctional breathing patterns, and leave with new strategies to enhance resilience and support personal healing.

What is the essence of this course ?

Day 1: Introduction to the Autonomic Nervous System 

The autonomic nervous system helps us navigate the challenges of life. When we work in healing modalities, it is therefore key to have a solid understanding of as well as somatic tools for nervous system regulation, co-regulation and fostering resilience. In this 101 on the nervous system, learn about the Polyvagal Theory, your nervous system baseline and the window of tolerance, and how this informs our work as facilitators. We will also touch on the importance of meaningful self care, as befriending your own nervous system is the first step of holding space for others.

Day 2: Introduction to Functional Breathing

In this class, we will dive into the anatomy of breath and explore the powerful connection between breathing patterns and the nervous system. You'll learn how stress affects your breathing, the benefits of nose breathing vs. mouth breathing, and gain a clear understanding of reversed breathing.

We’ll also teach you how to recognize dysfunctional breathing patterns within yourself, giving you the tools to identify and address them. The class will conclude with practical exercises that you can take home and integrate into your daily life, helping you improve your breathing and overall well-being.

Day 3: Introduction to Conscious Connected Breathwork

In this introduction to conscious connected breathing, we will explore the fundamental aspects of breathwork. You’ll learn what breathwork is, its various modalities and styles, and how SVARA’s approach to breathwork stands out as soft, gentle, and trauma-informed.

We'll dive into the differences between new-age breathwork techniques and ancient practices, providing insight into how these tools have evolved. We'll also discuss the benefits of breathwork, key contraindications to be aware of, and why this work is so impactful for personal healing and growth.

Our session will conclude with a short breathwork practice, allowing you to experience firsthand the power of this transformative tool.

Anyone interested in becoming more familiar with the nervous system can take this course. You'll gain somatic tools and breathing practices to work effectively with the nervous system. This course is a prerequisite for participating in the Earth module, and credits can be applied toward the training (valid for one year).
